KL gets fidgety

Having seen the scene here in Kuala Lumpur for the past two years its easy to see why so many are getting frustrated with random nights out in town. R’n’B here, house there. You will be hard pressed to find anything other than the mainstream.

Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of other great nights going on in KL in places like Urbanattic and Cloth & Clef who vigorously promote original nights, sounds and artists; but turn any given corner in KL and your more than likely facing a tsunami of uncreative blandness.

But all this looks set to change with the pending arrival of Mutant Mayhem. The night is born out of the premise of nothing but the top notch floor fillers of fidget pioneers like Fake Blood and Crookers, indie-electro a la Soulwax and the heaviest electro anthems by artists like Justice.

The night is currently under development by a group of local and foreign DJ’s who are fans themselves of the KL club scene and now want to make their own unique mark on it by pioneering the fidget sound that sneaks its way into so many DJ’s record boxes.

No date has been set yet for the launch night but you can keep on top of the action at Mutant Mayhem’s Facebook or MySpace page. Mayo.
