The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan revealed yesterday on his blog that he is undertaking a free music project of monolithic proportions.

Billy recently started work on the album titled “Teargarden by Kaleidyscope” and intends to give all 44 songs away for free when studio completed. Billy is something of an innovator in the online free music world, having released ‘Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music’ long before Radiohead came up with the same idea for their most recent album ‘In Rainbows’.

There is a twist in the tale however. The songs wont all be released at once. Starting from the end of October, Billy will upload each track one at a time, however there will still be a collectable mini box set EP for die hard fans who want the physical form.

Corgan has promised “the original psychedelic roots of The Smashing Pumpkins: atmospheric, melodic, heavy, and pretty”. He also says, “the album is based on ‘The Fool’s Journey’, as signified in the progress of the Tarot.” So now you know. Mayo.

No more broken promises! Little Billy obviously doesn’t understand the concept of quality over quantity.
